California Wild Ales is an independent San Diego brewery with deep roots in Ocean Beach and expanded production in Midway / Point Loma. While we built our reputation as a San Diego sour beer and wild ales brewery, today we produce a full lineup of craft beer styles, brewed thoughtfully and served fresh across our taprooms.
From wild fermentation and barrel-aged saisons to crisp lagers, West Coast IPAs, hazy IPAs, stouts, and small-batch releases, California Wild Ales is a place for curious beer drinkers and everyday locals alike.

The Barrel Program

Wild fermentation and barrel aging remain at the core of California Wild Ales. Our barrelhouse and production facility are located at our Midway / Point Loma brewery, where much of our brewing, blending, and aging takes place.
This is where our sour beers and saisons are fermented slowly, often aged in oak, and carefully blended over time. For those seeking San Diego sour beer with depth and balance, our barrel program continues to produce limited, thoughtful releases that reflect our original vision — complex, expressive, and never rushed.
